Senator Stabenow’s Statement on One-Year Anniversary of the Farm Bill

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow, Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, today released the following statement in advance of the one-year anniversary of the 2014 Farm Bill signing. On February 4, 2014, the Senate passed the bipartisan bill 68-32, sending the legislation to President Obama for his signature. On February 7, 2014, President Obama signed the Farm Bill into law at Michigan State University.

“One year ago this week President Obama signed the bipartisan 2014 Farm Bill into law, proving that Congress can get things done by working together across the aisle. This landmark legislation ushers in a new era of agricultural policy and makes a commitment to support the diversity of American agriculture, brings more local fruits and vegetables to school cafeterias, invests in a growing bio-economy, and makes historic investments to conserve our land and water. Just one year in, this Farm Bill is already growing our economy and creating jobs, and will continue to do so for years to come.”
